I'm a cashier...real exciting job there. lol. Not my dream job by a long shot, but at least I have a job in this economy.

I did work as a Sales Representative for Verizon Wireless internet sales through an outsource company. Yep, the people on those chats are actually real people.

Two two year college degrees and can't seem to find a decent job. I'm going to keep hunting around for something better though.

I didnt mean you directly, but the way a lot of those people copy and paste answers after several minutes trying to figure out what I typed in english and running that through a translator, I sometimes wonder if I'm "chatting" with a bot.

I can see how it would seem that way, especially considering that we would use some pre-typed and "canned" responses for things, which is basically a command that would let me use a generic response.
Although one customer I had I remember making a comment saying I sounded like a car salesman. It was hilarious!
Sometimes customers would say some strange things too though.
"How much is a free phone?" For example. A friend of mine actually got that response.

The job I have now...it's just a regular cashier job at a locally owned store. It started out alright enough, they were even impressed with my cashier skills. But then the owner came in and insulted me and it's been going down hill from there.

I also seem to have terrible luck getting interviews with jobs that are close to, or at least similar to what I went to college for. I have a Medical Administrative Assistant Degree and I can't find a single job with it. I wouldn't mind just being an office receptionist somewhere, it doesn't even have to be a medical office, it could be a school or a business. Schools would be nice because it would be a Monday through Friday kind of deal during the day with the weekends off plus most schools offer nice benefits like 401K and Health insurance, and since I'm almost 30 it would be kind of nice to find a decent job with a retirement plan so I won't have to worry about it 35 years down the road. I don't really mind working Saturdays but I like having Sundays off. Having the whole weekend would be awesome though. But good luck finding a full time day job that's Monday thru Friday, or any job that has any benefits. They say jobs are scarce. Well, there's plenty of part-time minimum wage jobs out there, it's the good jobs that are scarce.

There is only one real benefit of my job, the fact that you get a 10% discount and can charge items to the store. Plus I get an inside look at all the deals going on. On the plus side, a guy got fired so at least I'm getting almost full time hours.

You are singing my song my friend. I lost my job in April 2012. I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Mgmt. I have over ten years in data entry. And I maybe get an interview every five weeks. I will be 44 in less than a month and ageism is definitely a factor now too. Most jobs are either contract or part time. And every job wants someone with several years experience, even entry level factory work.

I just had an interview this week and am really hoping this one works out, otherwise I am in serious trouble. With the holidays near, there won't be much hiring except for seasonal help in retail. My unemployment will run out after the end of the year. I really could end up losing everything and that is not an exaggeration either.

One of the problems I have is that how are you supposed to even get the experience when no one will hire you? I actually have two, two year college degrees and neither of them are doing me any good. I've also got about $30,000 in debt from the first college, and not to mention that college ill advised me to go for a useless degree in Individual Studies, which is why I went back to school for Medical Administrative Assistant thinking I'd find a decent job in a Medical Office doing the filing, paperwork, billing and such. I returned to school to get the experience, and people still won't consider me.

It really sucks being in the situation you're in. If you don't get the job, you might have to settle for a part-time job to at least get some income and cut the expenses. It's going to be even more rough around the holidays, when everyone's preparing big dinners and giving gifts and such. I had to take any job I could get right now, but I'm going to try for something better. There's a company that would offer a job similar to what I did at the call center I worked at, when I put my application in they immediately had with drawn applications, but said they might be hiring again in November. So I'm hoping to get in there. It would be good money and I'd have experience. The down side though is that it has nothing to do with what I went to college for, and it's a bit longer of a drive. It's not a really long drive but I'd hate to have my car break down on the way when I just start a new job.
